First Commonwealth proudly announces the opening of its newest location in McCandless Township at 11 Pine Creek Road.

On Saturday, August 9, 2008, First Commonwealth celebrated the Grand Opening of our new McCandless Community Office. The opening, which marked the 113th office for our banking division, attracted over 100 attendees and generated a lot of new business. 

Saturday’s celebration featured refreshments, goodies and catering for clients and neighbors provided by Soergel Orchards, Popcorn-N-That, Steamers coffee, and Sweet Licks ice cream. The festivities also included an official ribbon cutting, plus Grand Opening prize registration to win Soergel's pies and an assortment of gift baskets. Weekly giveaways will continue throughout August and early September. The event was capped off by the participation of dignitaries, executives and special guests, including the Pittsburgh Zoo Polar Bear Mascot.

In addition, the winner of the online ‘First Day of School’ essay-writing contest was announced. The winner — Esma Dollaku!

Esma, a 10-year-old 5th grade student at McKnight Elementary, plans to attend Pitt or CMU in a few more years . . . and eventually take over the family business! The business is called Virtual Depot. Her parents are Sado and Servete Dollaku (that's her dad, Sado, in the photo). Esma received the $500 Coverdell Education Savings Account from First Commonwealth.
